7 Common Hair Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Natural Hair

Hey natural hair gang! I especially love my natural hair, being through good and rough times (which I caused) with my tresses, but through it all I can’t escape giving my hair some love and attention because well it’s on my head, we ain’t breaking up😂.

Today’s post is going to be brief I hope😂 I will like to give you some mistakes you should never make with your natural hair because the consequences can be chopping off your hair and starting all over again. I know this, being there, done that, came back stronger😅 with less mistakes😂.

1. FREQUENT COLORING:

If you love coloring your hair like I do, this might be your most expensive mistake😂 well the trick is, you might want to give your hair some breaks in between bleaching and coloring because if not your hair will turn up with color damage, which then means it’s a wrap for your hair. Chop! Chop!

2. EXCESSIVE HEAT:

This includes overly hot pressing your hair and not using a heat protectant while you’re at it. This practice can extremely damage your hair, if you must straighten your hair always use a good heat protectant.

3. BAD SHAMPOO:

First, you must check the ingredients of any shampoo you purchase to be sure it doesn’t contain sulfate. I once used a shampoo that belonged to my mother, I regretted it because while still washing, my hair was already badly tangled and my hair felt like straw, crazy! So, make sure to use a moisturizing shampoo to avoid hair loss from tangles.

4. AGGRESSIVE BRUSHING YOUR HAIR WHILE STILL WET:

Never do this! After a wash you should always brush your hair gently from ends to root. Your hair is quite fragile when wet so if brushed roughly, you might lose a tremendous amount of hair. Apply a conditioner for best results and brush gently.

5. SLEEPING CARELESSLY WITH WET HAIR:

Ok! I know this has happened to most of us, when you just freshly washed your hair but you’re too tired to wait for it to dry then you decide to go to bed. Big mistake! You woke up with badly tangled hair that is incredibly painful to brush out. Always try to make sure your hair is brushed and put in a ponytail before sleeping, if you’re too tired to wait for it to dry. This method will prevent you from getting tangled hair in the morning. I do this all the time, it works.

6. DRYING WITH A TOWEL INSTEAD OF A SHIRT:

Beware, use a shirt instead. It’s so much more easier, it feels more gently on your hair instead of harsh towels. Towels can make your hair tangle up so don’t use it.

7. DAILY WASHING:

Do not wash your hair everyday, for the simple reason that excessive washing can strip your hair of necessary moisture and oils. So it will be better if you wash your hair probably every other day in a week.
